Smoltz willing to close (plus - retirement?)

Suggests to me the arm is hurting pretty badly:

And this sounds to me like he may retire after this season:
"Right now I'm sitting at ground zero, taking it day by day, looking at 
every option to help this team get to the playoffs and end my career the
