| The PawSox swept a doubleheader on Thursday afternoon in Buffalo, 2-0 and
9-1. In the opener, Bartolo Colon was magnificent, giving up just one hit
in
six innings. Colon needed just 64 pitches to get through the outing. The
2005 Cy Young winner fanned 4 and didn't walk anyone. In his 3 outings for
Pawtucket, Colon (2-0, 0.64) has worked 14 innings, giving up 6 hits, 1
run,
1 walk, with 11 strikeouts. With Clay Buchholz on the Boston Red Sox
disabled list, Colon could be ready for a return to the Majors. Chris
Smith
picked up his fourth save in four tries. The PawSox took advantage of Adam
Miller, scoring both of their runs in the first inning, when Miller walked
a
pair. In the nightcap, David Pauley improved to 4-2 with 5 shutout
innings.
Michael Tejera worked the sixth inning and Eric Hull came on in the
seventh
to mop up. The bats were booming as Jeff Bailey had a double and a homer.
Bailey has hit 5 homers since Sunday, a span of 5 games. In that stretch,
he
has 13 rbi. Chad Spann belted his first home run, a 3 run shot and Joe
Thurston added 3 hits. - the team site.
