Marmol

On Thursday's Cubs loss to the Brewers the Cubs were up 3-1 until the 
9th inning with Zambrano having a terrific outing.  If you recall, Lou 
put Marmol in for the eighth inning and he pitched lights out, 2 
strikeouts and (IIRC) a pop up.  After that inning I wondered if perhaps 
Lou should just let Marmol pitch out the 9th but alas, Lou put in Kerry 
Wood who subsequently blew the lead which cost the Cubs the game.  I was 
heart broken for Zambrano when the Brewers tied in the ninth depriving  
him of a well deserved win.  I fully believe that had Lou stuck with 
Marmol that that game would have went into the win column.  Marmol 
pitched so well that the Brewers didn't seem to know what hit them.

Flash forward to today.  Lou puts in Marmol for the 8th and 9th and 
again Marmol was flawless.  I never like when teams put players into 
positions for the sole purpose of padding their stats.  Since it was 
decided that Wood is the closer then he should get all the saves.  Did 
Lou let Marmol pitch out today because it wasn't a save situation?  I 
say this is BS and I hope Lou learned from Thursday's game that winning 
is more im****tant than helping a bunch of people in their Rotisserie 
leagues who have Wood as their closer.  Marmol is so good I wonder if he 
has the strength to keep his stuff for seven innings and be a starter.  
The Cubs will definitely need one more lights out starters if they want  
any chance of advancing in the playoffs (knock on wood!).
