Heya, I'm posting this here because I think this place I'm looking for is
(was?) in Chicago and I'm wondering if anyone can tell me if it still
exists..?
A LONG time ago (late 80's, I think?), I remember seeing a photo of bar
that
refused to sell their land to some big cor****ate behemoth that wanted to
demolish the place to build a huge skyscraper. Eventually, the skyscraper
was forced to build around the existing tavern, and for many years I had a
picture of this place sitting at the base of this huge building with an
indentation in it's side to becasue of the bar on the street at it's
bottom.
I don't know if i'm right or not about this being in Chicago, but that's
what I seem to remember about it (there's been A LOT of brain cells killed
in the time that's passed). Anyway, there was no general newsgroup for
just
queries about Chicago, so I figured some Cubs fans (who have been known to
ingest a pint or two of suds) might know something about this place, and
if
it's still around because some buddies and I are planning some road trips
this summer and if we hit Chicago, I definitely want to go this
establishment.
