Schmidt would be seeing his first game action since last June, when he
underwent right shoulder surgery. Torre said Schmidt came to the
ballpark on Thursday's off-day to throw, one day after a bullpen
session. He is expected to pitch one inning for Inland Empire at
Lancaster on Sunday and gradually progress from there over the next
month.
