Mr. Attanascio
Far be it from me to set your itinerary for the day, but you must address
the issue of your manager's job security and the sooner the better. I know
you feel his job is safe, but I have 3 ( I could come with more if you
like)
reasons to start that job search sooner than later.
1. 59-69 after a 24-10 start and giving back 10 1/2 games in the
standings.
Playing over their heads at this point? Maybe so, but how many other teams
getting off to this start or better, finished worse.
2. 16 losses after the team had a 3 run lead in the final three innings.
In
a 162 schedule, you may lose a few games like that, but 16? Just
preventing
3 of the 16 puts you in the playoffs.
3. Leader****p. What kind of leader do you have, in a final week stretch
drive, gets tossed in 3 of 4 vital games and is suspended (alledgedly for
ordering a CodeRed on Pujols) in another?
Add these to 60 games under .500 in 5 seasons, enough is enough. I will
concede I don't have anyone in mind to replace him, but I will throw out
Joe
Girardi, who may not be interested, but at least offer job to him, and
what
about the manager who had most of these guys at Nashville and Huntsville.
Didn't they win champion****ps with him? No major league experience you
say?
Did Nedley have any when he came? I am not totally removing players from
blame. While guys like Prince and Braun and Corey Hart were producers
pretty
much all season, many like Sheets, Jenkins and some others could have done
more. Plenty of blame to go around actually, but, as they say, you can't
fire the team, only the manager.
