In the interest of fair play, I have to mention that Carlos Gomez is
starting to show some smarts at the plate of late. He's laying off
some bad pitches and he's hitting the ball with some pop.
He actually drew a walk last night in the ninth inning vs. Papelbon,
only his fourth walk this season. Amazing after learning earlier this
week that he's the 3rd wildest swinger in baseball. Stupendous when
you learn that it was only the second walk given up by Papelbon this
year, with his first walk occurring in Japan, the first game of the
season, on March 25th.
Gomez promptly stole second base and scored the winning run on Lamb's
bloop single to left field.
