Better yet, see if you can snag Beltre for a song (Seattle probably
just wants rid of the contract, since they're not likely to compete
next year either). Then trade Hernanzez for a box of Cracker Jacks and
bring up the organization's best pitcher. You've improved your offense
AND your defense.
And since I'm dreaming, maybe they can find a setup man on the cheap.
Bullpen help never fetches the premium starting pitching or offense
command.
If those three things happened, I'd be inclined to believe the Twins
might just win this thing.
-------------------------------------------------
The best "trade" they could pull off is bringing up Cisco and putting
Livan
in the pen for now. I think keeping him is not a bad idea as someone is
bound to get hurt.
As much as it would be nice to get another arm, I'd think they have enough
plus arms to make it work with Crain, Guerrier, and Nathan, not to mention
Reyes and Breslow who have done fine jobs. Sure, it would be nice to add
another arm, but as many have said you usually overpay for bullpen help
midseason.
