On this date last year, the Mets were 25-14, 11 games over .500. At
the end of the season, they were 88-74, 14 games over .500. Today,
they sit at 20-19. So, for a full year now, 5/16/07-5/16/08, they are
83-79, 4 games above .500.
When I look at this, I have to conclude that their current record is
not an aberration, but is an indicator of what seems to be a mediocre
team. A few players have changed, but the core is pretty much the
same. Why would we expect any different results?

I had great expectations when Santana signed, but I guess 2008 is
likely to be another "normal" Mets year, mediocre. Oh well.
OTOH, I am visiting NY from Texas this week and will be taking my 85
year old Yankees fan mother-in-law to her first Yankees game this
Sunday. At least one of us is guaranteed to enjoy the game!
Lets go Mets!
