....they've come through one of the tougher patches in the schedule
with a solid 9-6 record. In the recent past, the A's have sometimes
shown a tendency to play the good teams tough, then mysteriously play
down to the level of lesser clubs and not win as much as they should.
Last year, at one point, they swept a series at Toronto, then went
down to Tampa and got hammered... They've had similar, sudden
downturns against KC and other sub .500 clubs in recent years... This
year's team looks hungrier and more confident in themselves, and I
have high hopes that when they get a stretch of lower division clubs
on the schedule, they could pile up the wins. That's the theory
anyways...
