I would love Chad Gaudin to prove me wrong. I really would.
And maybe he's on his way to doing so.
Using an economical 84 pitches in seven innings, Gaudin threw a seven-
inning blanket over the Twins' offense last night. He didn't walk
anyone, either. Fifty-two of his pitches were for strikes. Great
effort. The bullpen did its job, too, by throwing strikes.
And Mike Sweeney must have heard the footsteps of the Big Hurt, for he
finally hit a HR to provide the final margin of victory. The A's only
had nine baserunners total in the game, but extra base hits always
help.
Perfect formula for what ails any team: good pitching and extra-base
knocks.
