Well, hey -- Seattle doesn't really own the A's, now, do they?
Like Game 23 against the Twins, the A's jumped out early and never
gave up the lead. Of course, there were some tense moments, but the
bullpen provided 3.2 innings of scoreless relief -- always a good
sign.
But Embree, Brown and Street combined to throw 25 strikes in 49
pitches. Not good. That will need to improve.
Offensively, the A's had THREE hits. You're not going to win a lot of
games with three hits, even if you do draw seven walks. Three hits is
a recipe for losing. This team, as usual, needs a better batting
coach.
But hey, it's a win, right? And it's a division win over a team which
had beaten the A's six straight times.
I'll take it, for it's a game the A's probably shouldn't have won.
A's Record: 15-9
A's Should-Be Record: 16-8
