This is exactly what I was talking about near the end of the season when I
stated that the Padres needed to start addressing the Peavy situation now,
and not wait until next season after they picked up his option. Making a
proactive move like this sends the right message, to Peavy, to the rest of
the team, and to the fans.
I like it.
