I was COMPLETELY unaware that other Padre pitchers deliberately
give up hits to bring the opponent within 3 runs. You have opened
my eyes on this one !

Almost all his Career highs are against the Los Angeles Dodgers,
the Padres #1 rival, & frequent contender for the NL West title.

With few exceptions, Padre playoff setbacks are attributable
to problems with starting pitching. They fall behind early and
never catch up. That was the litany all 3 times with St. Louis.
