The problem with Burroughs was Burroughs. He had established himself
as a Major League hitter, before he started struggling. I don't think
Bochy, or anybody else, had any reason to believe that he had suddenly
lost it.
As for Headley, if they do think that his defense needs more work, I'm
all for letting him start the season in AAA. But, his bat sure looks
like it's ready to go, and I'd hate to see them give a bunch of ABs to
lesser hitters if they're just doing it to avoid starting the clock
towards Headley being arbitration-eligible.
