It would not be a surprise if arbitration eligibility was a part of
the decision to start Headley in Portland. It happens fairly
frequently. A good example is Paul McAnulty. The talk going into
spring was that he would be looked at strongly to make the big club in
2008. One of reasons given? McAnulty is out of options. If we send him
down, he will have to be exposed on waivers, and, could be claimed by
another team.
