Hendrick (3 for 4, 2 RBI) each have 2 doubles to lead San Diego past
Cincinnati. Left fielder Gene Richards, catcher Gene Tenace, first
baseman
Mike Ivie, and shortstop Bill Almon each have two hits, and Tenace, Ivie,
and third baseman Doug Rader chip in 2 RBI apiece.
Starter Bob ****rley (1-0) throws a shutout into the 9th inning, but then
runs out of gas, giving up 4 in 8-2/3 innings. Reliever Dave Tomlin gets
the final out.
For Cincinnati, shortstop Dave Concepcion is the only player with 2 hits.
Third baseman Pete Rose hits a bases-loaded double in the bottom of the

to get 3 RBI. Starter Santo Alcala (0-1) is chased after 2-2/3 innings,
