Starter Eric Show (1-0) scatters eight hits over 7-2/3 innings, giving up
one run, two walks, and striking out four to get the win. Reliever Gary
Lucas notches his second save of the season, retiring all four hitters he
faces. The Padres score both of their runs in the bottom of the fourth.
For the game, they are led by right fielder Sixto Lezcano (two doubles, 1
RBI) and catcher Terry Kennedy (two singles, 1 RBI). Left fielder Gene
Richards has the only other Padre hit, as they are limited to a total of
five.
Giant starter Atlee Hammaker (0-1) takes the loss, giving up only three
hits, two runs, and no walks in six innings. Shortstop Johnnie LeMaster
has
two hits, including a home run, to lead the Giants, while center fielder
Chili Davis chips in with two singles.
