Of those, I supsect that Vizcaino will be of more impact than Hirsh, who
is
a back-of-the-rotation guy whereas Vizcaino is a short relief/setup guy.
Sort of like our losing Meredith or Bell as opposed to, say, Hensley, who
would have a comparable position in the organization to Hirsh.
A much bigger factor in our potential for success in this series will be
how
well Wolf and Germano can take care of business against the "Killer H's"
(Helton, Holliday, and Hawpe) and Atkins. Peavy should be able to hold
down
his end of the deal.
Germano's actually handled Helton fairly well in his brief ML career... 1
for 7 with no extra-base hits, 1 K, and 3 walks for a line of
.143/.364/.143
in those 10 PA's. The other 3 guys are a bit more worrisome though...
Against Germano:
Atkins: .600/.600/.600, 2 RBI in 5 PA's
Hawpe: .286/.375/.429, 1 2B, in 8 PA's
Holliday: .545/.583/.1.182, 4 2B, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 BB in 12 PA's
Against Wolf:
(No PA's vs either Atkins or Hawpe)
Helton: .294/.455/.647, 1 2B, 1 3B, 1 HR, 3 RBI, 5 BB in 20 PA's
Holliday: .333/.333/1.000, 1 2B, 1 HR, 4 RBI in 6 PA's
Keep those guys from running roughshod over Wolf and Germano, and we
should
be in fine shape.
