Closers are "scary" because when they're in the game, it's often a
critical
game situation. Not all the saves are easy 3-run lead cakewalks. That 1-0
win the other night was scary because there was little margin for error,
and
even the best pitchers make a mistake occasionally.
That's what makes Hoffy's career all the more impressive... to be as good
at
it as he's been over such a long stretch of years. That's rare.
