Starter John Montefusco (1-2) and reliever Gary Lucas (fifth save) pitch

and three innings, respectively, and each give up three runs, but San
Diego
holds on to win over San Francisco, 7-6. Lucas gives up seven hits, a
walk,
and a home run during his three innings. The Padres' batting star is
center
fielder Ruppert Jones, who has a two-run homer and scores three runs in
the
victory. Left fielder Gene Richards adds two hits, and second baseman
Juan
Bonilla and right fielder Sixto Lezcano each have a triple.
San Francisco Al Holland (1-2) takes the loss, throwing 4-2/3 innings,
giving up six hits, five runs, and three walks. Second baseman Joe Morgan
has three hits, including a first-inning, two-run homer, and three RBI.
Shortstop Guy Sularz goes three for five, while left fielder Jim Wohlford
makes it close with a two-run homer in the top of the ninth.
