Today in Padre History
April 30, 1993

Padres 7, Mets 6

San Diego scores the tying and go-ahead runs in the bottom of the 7th
inning 
on an error by New York shortstop Tony Fernandez.  Right fielder Tony
Gwynn 
has 4 singles, 1 double, 1 run, and 3 RBI in 5 at bats, and shortstop
Ricky 
Gutierrez adds 4 singles and 2 runs for the Padres.  Starter Dave Eiland 
lasts only 4-1/3 innings, reliever Rich Rodriguez (1-0) picks up the win, 
and Gene Harris gets his 5th save of the season.

The Mets get 2 hits apiece from Vince Coleman, Tony Fernandez, Howard 
Johnson, and Joe Orsulak.  Starter Sid Fernandez gives up 9 hits in 5 
innings, but it is reliever Anthony Young (0-3) who takes the loss.

Attendance: 39,343
