Padres 9, Giants 4

Four Padres homer in 4 different innings to lead San Diego past San 
Francisco, 9-4.  The roundtrippers are hit by center fielder Steve Finley 
(3rd inning), left fielder Rickey Henderson (5th inning), shortstop
Andujar 
Cedeno (6th inning(, and third baseman Ken Caminiti (7th inning). 
Cedeno's 
home run comes with 2 men on.  Starter Fernando Valenzuela (1-1) throws 
5-2/3 innings to pick up the win, and relievers Bryce Florie and Trevor 
Hoffman give up no runs over the final 3-1/3 innings to preserve the 
victory.

San Francisco starter Mark Gardner (2-1) takes the loss, pitching 5
innings 
and giving up 2 of the home runs and 5 earned runs.  Second baseman Robby 
Thompson and third baseman Matt Williams each have 2 hits, and Barry Bonds

has a 2-run homer.

At: Jack Murphy Stadium
Attendance: 14,878
