COPIAGUE, N.Y. (AP) - A San Diego man who flipped his finger
and exposed his genitals at a police cruiser and then popped
a wheelie on his motorcycle is recovering from injuries after
crashing.
Suffolk County Police said Brian Giles, 38, of Poway, CA,
rode by the police car at a service station in Copiague at
7:30 p.m. Sunday.
Police say Giles made an obscene gesture and dropped his shorts
to two officers in the car, popped a wheelie and then sped away.
Police gave chase.
When the motorcycle turned into a parking lot it crashed
into a police car that had joined the chase.
Police said Giles was treated for minor injuries at
Southside Hospital. He's charged with fleeing police,
resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance,
obscene vehicular assault and several traffic violations.
He was being held for arraignment Monday. Police did not
know if he had an attorney.
Giles was in town for the Padres-Mets series last weekend.
Giles was unable to be reached for comment but his brother
Marcus, speaking on the condition of Anonymity, confirmed
the incident and also said his brother was a prick and one
of the gays.
Attempts to reach Padre Management by telephone were
unsuccessful. Calls went unanswered as Chief Executive
Officer Sandy Alderson struggled with the concept of
answering a ringing phone.
Giles has been involved in a string of bizarre low profile
incidents since joining San Diego from Pittsburgh 5 years
ago.
