Today in Padre History
May 6, 1969

Padres 4, Pirates 2

Center fielder Cito Gaston caps a 4-run Padre first inning with a triple 
that drives in 2 runs; San Diego goes on to defeat Pittsburgh, 4-2. 
Shortstop Tommy Dean and left fielder Tony Gonzalez have 2 hits apiece in 
the win.  Starter Dick Kelley (2-2) allows 8 hits and 2 runs over 8
innings 
pitched, and reliever Frank Reberger picks up his 4th save of the season 
with a scoreless 9th inning effort.

Pirate starter Steve Blass (2-2) lasts only 2/3 of an inning, giving up 4 
hits, a walk, and 4 runs.  Pittsburgh's hitting leader is left fielder 
Willie Stargell, who goes 2 for 4 with a run scored.
