The sad-eyed comedian would stare into the camera and
do a deadpan satire of political speech. For example:
"My opponent says my $100,000 tax lien shows a lack of
honesty. The Media says I should not have taken an
Hawaiian vacation with that Stripper. And now the Boy
Scouts say I stole the building fund for their new camp.
