AAA: Fresno defeated Omaha 2-0
Fresno: SS Omar Vizquel: 1 for 3
Fresno: CF Clay Timpner: 1 for 3, BB, CS
Fresno: LF Brian Horwitz: 3 for 3
Fresno: RHP Matt Palmer: 8.0 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 9 K--1 WP
Fresno: LHP Alex Hinshaw: 1.0 IP, 2 K
Omaha: LHP Tyler Lumsden: 6.0 IP, 8 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 1 K
Horwitz, who had three of the Grizzlies' eight hits, raised his AVG
to .312. Timpner was the other Grizzly to reach base twice, improving
his OBP to .353. Vizquel made his second rehab appearance, playing
five innings, and is schedule to make a rehab appearance with San Jose
tonight and the next couple nights (as the rest of the Grizzlies head
east to New Orleans).
Palmer had his most effective start of the year, with season highs in
IP and K and with season lows in R, ER and BB. But his ERA remains
just above 5.25. Hinshaw struck out two of three batters he faced in
a perfect 9th inning for his 5th save. The Royals' Lumsden also had
his most effective start of the year. Considered one of the Royals
top five prospects heading into last season, he has struggled since
with an ERA close to 6.00 last year in the PCL and an ERA over 7.00 so
far this year. Both starters threw exactly 100 pitches (61 strikes
for Palmer, 59 for Lumsden). The game last just a few minutes past
two hours.

Rosario and Klink combined for five of the Defenders' nine hits,
raising their respective AVGs to .296 and .218. Klink had had just
one hit in his previous six games. Bergolla, who hit .306/.366/.433
for Fresno last year, is in the Nationals organization this year. He
reached base three times in his first game against his previous
organization, but is otherwise off to a somewhat slow start hitting .
256/.354/.329 through 82 AB.
Oseguera lasted just three innings in his second start, facing 13
batters. Palazzolo saw his ERA nearly double to 1.66. Romo had his
second straight appearance without a strikeout but edged his ERA a bit

A-: Augusta defeated Rome 11-2
Augusta: 1B Thomas Neal: 1 for 1, BB, 2 HBP, SF
Augusta: C Matt Klimas: 3 for 5, SO, CS
Augusta: 3B Andrew Davis: 0 for 4, 3 SO
Augusta: CF Shane Jordan: 3 for 4
Rome: RF Jason Heyward: 2 for 3, E
Augusta: RHP Oliver Odle: 8.0 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 5 K--1 PO
Pacing the GreenJackets' thirteen hit attack with three hits each were
Klimas and Jordan, raising their respective AVGs to .192 and .256.
Klimas had hit just 2 for 21 entering the game. Neal reached base
four times to raise his OBP above .400. Davis had been perhaps the
hottest bat in the lineup the past few days, but he had an oh-fer with
a hat trick as one of two GreenJackets starters without a hit.
Heyward, who is perhaps the Braves' top prospect, at least with
Schafer suspended, had the Braves' lone multi-hit line to raise his
AVG to .319.
Odle had the longest start of any GreenJackets pitcher this year, all
the more remarkable for him since he had not made it through the 6th
inning since his first start of the year. (Note: The game recap from
the Augusta Chronicle indicates Odle may have been credited with the
stats from an inning of work actually performed by Dan Turpen.) He
also set a new season high with 5 K and tied season lows with 5 H and
0 BB. His ERA remains just above 5.00. Oddly enough, he has a large
reverse platoon split so far this year, at least in terms of AVG, with
righties batting .352 againt him but lefties just .241.
