Connecticut: RF Eddy Martinez-Esteve: 1 for 3, 2B, 2 BB, SB
Connecticut: 2B Olma Rosario: 4 for 5, 2B, SB, CS
New Hamp****re: DH Travis Snider: 2 for 4, BB

Connecticut: RHP Dave McKae: 3.2 IP, 7 H, 7 R, 6 ER, 3 BB, 3 K, 1 HR
Connecticut: RHP Josh Sharpless: 1.1 IP, 2 H, 1 BB
New Hamp****re: LHP Ricky Romero: 5.0 IP, 10 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 2 BB, 3 K

Every Defender in the lineup had a hit, and five of them had multiple
hits. Rosario's four hits paced the Defenders' sixteen-hit attack.
Rosario overtook EME, who was the only other Defender to reach base at
least three times, for the team lead in AVG, .306 to .305. Rosario
now has a 7/1 SB/CS line. Snider, the Blue Jays' top prospect, was
one of four different FisherCats to reach base three times. His AVG
is just below the Mendoza line now.

McKae allowed more than 3 ER in a start for just the second time this
year, but it was enough to boost his ERA above 5.00. Sharpless, the
27-year-old who was considered a top ten prospect for the Pirates just
a year ago before he was placed on waivers this spring, made his debut
in the Giants organization. A year ago he had 61 H, 39 BB and 69 K in
64.1 IP with a 4.34 in triple-A. Romero, selected sixth overall by
the Blue Jays three years ago, continues to struggle in the minors.
He had an ERA close to 5.00 last year in the Eastern League, and his
ERA is over 6.50 after eight starts this year. He has allowed four or
more earned runs in five of his last six starts.

A+: San Jose defeated Modesto 5-0
(the pitching staff's fifth shutout in their last nine games)

San Jose: LF Bobby Felmy: 2 for 4, 2B, GiDP
San Jose: SS Sharlon Schoop: 2 for 3, GiDP, CS

San Jose: LHP Jesse English: 5.0 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 3 K--1 PO
San Jose: RHP Mike Musgrave: 3.0 IP, 4 K
San Jose: RHP Craig Whitaker: 1.0 IP, 2 K

Felmy and Schoop each had two of the Giants' seven hits, improving
their respective AVGs to .295 and .247.

English had his second straight start without allowing an earned run,
which improved his ERA to 2.34. He also set a new season best with 3
H. Musgrave and Whitaker were dominant in relief, with four perfect
innings, during which they struck out half the batters they faced.

A-: Augusta defeated Rome 8-7 (13 innings)
(with just two runs scored after the 4th inning)

Augusta: CF Shane Jordan: 2 for 5, 2 BB, 2 SO, 2 SB
Augusta: LF Garrett Baker: 2 for 6, 2 2B, HBP, 2 SO
Augusta: 1B Angel Villalona: 3 for 6, 2 2B, 3 SO
Augusta: SS Charlie Culberson: 1 for 6, 3 SO, CS, 3 E

Augusta: LHP Craig Clark: 4.0 IP, 8 H, 7 R, 6 ER, 1 BB, 3 K--1 HR, 1
WP
Augusta: LHP Joe Paterson: 4.0 IP, 3 H, 3 K

Villalona had three of the GreenJackets' fifteen hits, raising his AVG
back above the Mendoza line. He had his 8th and 9th doubles of the
season, but the hat trick also raised his SO/AB ratio above 28%.
Baker also had a couple XBH, his 5th and 6th doubles of the season,
but like Villalona he still has a sub-.650 OPS. Batting leadoff,
Jordan reached base four times, improving his OBP to .381 despite an
SLG barely above .300. Culberson had a hat trick with three
strikeouts and was ejected after being called out on strikes in the
12th inning, but even worse he committed three errors, raising his
season total to 22 E.

Clark had his least effective start of the year, raising his ERA above
4.00. Paterson had his longest appearance as a pro. The four
scoreless innings improved his ERA to 2.25.
