Denker had a big game as the only Giant with multiple hits, including
his 1st HR of the year. He is now hitting .343/.452/.600 in 35 AB
with Fresno. Leone was the only other Grizzly to reach base twice.
With two more walks, his BB/AB ratio is above 18%. The Rockies'
Stewart had a big game, going deep for his 10th and 11th HRs.
Somewhat surprisingly, he now has more HRs on the road than at home,
but the rest of his numbers are much better at home. Nix, who lost
the Rockies' everyday 2B job after hitting just .111 in 45 AB, went
deep for the second time among 39 AB in the PCL.
Pereira had his worst start of the year, with season highs of 8 H and
7 ER and season lows of 2.1 IP and 1 K. He has now allowed 7 HR in
42.2 IP this year. Except for an error Threets worked a perfect 6th
inning in his fifth rehab appearance. Foppert threw just 21 of 44
pitches for strikes as his ERA rose above 5.00. Any one care to point
out that his BABIP was .000 in this game and imply that he was lucky
not to allow more runs?

Sosa had a huge game with 3 XBH, including his 4th HR in May and
improving his XBH/H ratio to 50%. He reached base in all five trips
to the plate and improved his season line to .273/.372/.509. Klink
also had three hits, but his AVG remains below .230.
Martinez tied season highs allowing 7 H and 3 ER, but his ERA remains
comfortably below 3.00 after eight starts. Hedrick and Matos each
pitched two scoreless innings to improve their ERAs to 2.37 and 1.21.
Cecil, rated the Blue Jays #2 prospect at the start of the season, had
a familiar line as it was his third straight start with 1 ER in 4.2
IP. After being drafted in the supplemental first round a year ago,
he appears to be on the fast track, already making his fourth start in
the upper minors. The 21-year-old Cecil is nearly a year younger than
the youngest player on the Defenders roster (Pichardo) and nearly two
years younger than Matos, who is the third youngest player on the
Defenders roster.
A+: San Jose defeated Modesto 8-2
(outscoring Modesto 19-3 in the four game sweep)

With three hits each, Downs and Sandoval combined for six of the
Giants' eight hits, improving their respective AVGs to .288 and .416.
Downs had his 6th HR and 10th SB. Sandoval now has a seven-game hit
streak, although he has had multiple hits in just two of those seven
games. Felmy reached base in all three trips to the plate, before
being removed for a pinch hitter in the 7th inning. He improved his
OBP to .353.
After allowing 21 ER over his past five starts, Tanner had his best
start since mid-April, when he had allowed 0 ER through his first
three starts. He also tied a season-low with 2 H, bringing his BAA
below .300.
A-: Augusta at Rome was cancelled due to rain
(The two teams do not play each other again in the first half of the
season and face each other just once in the second half.)
