It's official, Magowan is retiring

The Giants made the official announcement today.  Peter Magowan is 
retiring at the end of this season. He will be replaced by General 
Partner Bill Neukom, the former General Counsel of Microsoft and the 
current president of the American Bar Association (ABA).

Larry Baer is also being promoted to President of the team.  Magowan 
will keep some of his shares of the team but will sell some other shares 
to Neukom and to other Giants shareholders.

A significant change in the Giants power structure is that Brian Sabean 
will now re****t to Larry Baer, the team's new president, and not to Bill 
Neukom, the team's new general managing partner.

This change in the Giants owner****p will need to be approved by the rest 
of the MLB team owners in August before it can go into effect.

According to Magowan, Sabean's job is safe for now but after the season 
it will be up to the new Giants management (Neukom and Baer) to decide 
Sabean's fate.
