At $484 million, the St. Louis Cardinals are the ninth-most valuable
franchise in Major League Baseball, according to Forbes magazine's
annual survey and ranking of MLB's 30 teams based on their valuations.
The Cardinals' value increased 5 percent from last year's value of
$460 million, according to Forbes. Forbes estimated the Cardinal's
revenue at $194 million and $21.5 million in earnings before interest,
taxes, depreciation and amortization.
The New York Yankees topped the list with an estimated worth of $1.3
billion. The New York Mets are No. 2 at $824 million, closely followed
by the Boston Red Sox at $816 million.
Bottoming out on the list were MLB's two Florida franchises. The Tampa
Bay Devil Rays ranked No. 29 at $290 million, and the Florida Marlins
were last at $256 million.
