Team Quality

by "Dave" <dsheppard@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > May 10, 2008 at 07:36 PM

The manager and others on this team are putting on a brave face but lets
face it, the team is not that good. Riccardi just picked up two mediocre
hitters as an attempt to passify the fans. The players picked up are not
that good and goo well his off season moves as well as his poor moves to
begin the season. Reed Johnson will never be a great player but gave a lot

of heart to the team, something Stewart will not. Also Johnson had
potential
where Stewart is an aging vet relegated to part time duties.

Mench and Wilkerson were never that good though Mench did hit quite a few
Home Runs a couple of years back. That's the past, and lets face it he
will
not get that form back. Riccardi is grasping at straws. The pitching has
been good but are getting frustrated with the lack of run sup****t.

Riccardi made a blunder, not only in the baseball aspect but also in a
financial aspect, by first signing Thomas and then letting him go. This
leads me to believe that the since his "Five Year Plan" has not panned out

he is now trying hard to save his job. The owner****p will not put up with
this much longer. Bad move after bad move adds up to letting him go. In my

opinion Gord Ash might still be here had he not overpaid for Delgado. Not
saying that Ash was much better but the teams drafting was better with him

at the helm.

They spent alot of money for pitching that has not panned out as well. I
am
talking about Burnett. He has the arm but who knows how to harness it. Too

much money on a gamble IMO. I believe Lilly was as good and could've been
had for less. Which brings me to the Gibbons. Confronting Lilly was not
the
smartest move at that particular time. He could have waited until the
pitcher cooled off to talk to him. I could go on all day about the
problems
with the Blue Jays but I just don't have the time to waste. I'll just end
off with this: Scutero (Bad Signing), Stewart (Bad Signing), Thomas (Bad
Signing and dumping), Burnett (bad signing), Rolen/Glaus affair (Not good
at
all, too much for injury prone players), Barajas (Bad signing), and the
latest Mench/Wilkerson (Bad signings). Also why are all the guys from the
minors unable to hit Major League pitching. Like I said I could go on and
on.
