1/Of the 14 teams in the AL only half of
the teams are over .500 and the majority
of those leaders in all three divisions have played the majority of
their games
in warmer climates or have played in
covered ball parks, for the most part?
They started mlb almost a week early
this year, and the weather in spring
training camps was wet and cool for
the most part all over the south.
2/Is it just me or as anyone else noticed
the unusual high % of broken bats this
season with all the abnormally cool and
wet weather around the league.Or have
more players gone to lighter and less
splinter resistant woods to try and get
an edge on the pitchers in the al.
Who seem to be posting much higher
then normal era's this season, for some
reason.Fourth and fifth starters in the
al posting un heard of era's.Even older
closers who have seen better days, seem
to have new life?
3/Teams who are leading the al races have more stolen bases than their
rivals, for the most part, does this mean
the balco batter's are a thing of the past?
And little ball has become the winning
combination for success in mlb.
4/Even teams with poor era's and total
run's scored and against are in the top
of their divisions,some how?
5/Of course there is an exception to every
thing and that would be the woeful tigers
who suck at just about every category in
mlb, even though they have scored plenty
of runs, better run sup****t than league
average,decent obp,hitting average,
as well as runs scored against, they
some how managed to be gasping for
air at the bottom of the mlb fish tank.
Could be that horrible .509 era,but even
teams with ugly era's,and hitting avg.
are doing much better than the tigs?
So go figure!
6/It will be interesting to see what happens when the weather warms up
a little more,or if teams like the tigs
have dug themselves an early grave
this season,early on.Nobody is running
away with the any division in the al
yet this season.
7/ I sometimes wonder if mlb has more
to do with the outcome of any given season than meets the eye. After all
it's no secret that revenue is their
main objective in the game.They
let the steroid thing go on for decades
and turned a blind eye to it.Now you
have teams like the dray's kicking
ass in a very cash strapped part of
the USA,because of low tourist money
and high gas prices??!!!But then you
have a team like the tigs with one
of the highest payrolls in mlb,and one
of the worst economy's in the nation??
