Paid-entry league entering 8th season, looking for more managers:

by "J.J." <jjgahr@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Mar 19, 2008 at 04:04 PM

Hi everyone. I'm the Commish of a league named Game Face, which
is entering its 8th season as a paid-entry league. We use CBS S****tsline,
which has proven to be a reliable service. Entry fee is $115, of which
$100 goes toward the prize pool and the remainder toward league costs.
New managers will have to pay via Paypal or a bank transfer, particularly
this close to the draft. Four places are paid at season's end (it's full
season), and we do pay out the ENTIRE prize pool, in a roughly 4:3:2:1
ratio, with a few more $$$ pro****tionately going to the top 2. Right now
we have 11 teams with a 12th team likely. Our current set of managers
are a cool group, not particularly boisterous but certainly competitive.
They live everywhere from Montana to Florida to California.

Our draft will begin on Friday the 21st at 3:00 PM EST. It is an extended
live draft, online, with 10 hours max. per pick and a draft robot that
shuts
down the draft for 6 or 7 hours at night so managers don't lose much of
their allotted time while sleeping. Our drafts usually take about a week
to complete, which we like as it extends the fun and gives each manager
more time to evaluate his options. This year we'll probably ignore the
games on the 25th and 26th, unless we rip through the draft in record
time (for us).

There are no fees for transactions and you can set your roster daily.
Trades take 2 days to process, in which time managers have the right
to protest if they choose. Protests must only specify which side they
are against (we've had 4 people protest a trade, with two on each side
of the fence!). If 3+ protests are in agreement, the trade is vetoed. We
don't see many protested trades, however. Waivers claims are
processed daily.

Our scoring system is points-based and pretty straightforward. We
award 1 point for a single, 2 for a steal, 5 points for a solo homer (we
use RBI-HR), et cetera (15 categories in all, all updated live on the CBS
website). Pitchers get 10 points for a win, 3 points per IP, -1 for walks
and hits allowed, and so on (16 categories in all). If you've played in a
points-based league before, you'll be comfortable enough. Positions to
 fill include C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, DH, OFx3, MI & CI. Starting pitchers
have a 162 game limit, as do relievers.

I'm sure there's more I could detail, but this should be enough to peak
some interest and I'll be happy to answer additional questions. I can
also provide a phone # (and likely the #s of a few other managers if
you want to check us out a bit more) so you can call and chat with me
a bit. Email me at jjgahr@[EMAIL PROTECTED]
 if you're interested.
