MVP Award, 2 batting titles, 3 Gold Gloves, 3 Silver Sluggers, led 
the league in slugging twice, doubles twice, total bases three 
times, RBI once, and extra base hits twice. He was second in home 
runs twice or he'd have a career Triple Crown.

Good stats, but not "holy ****" good. I agree.

What seperates Parker from others with similar stats is his 
defense. Few outfielders in history have had an arm like his. How 
many people have won an All Star Game MVP because of two outfield 
assists? Murphy is the only one who compares.

For a few years, Parker was the best player in baseball. 
Unfortunately, the coke got ahold of him and he was never the same 
after that, although he certainly had productive years in 
Cincinnati and Oakland. (Don't forget, it was the Cobra batting 
cleanup for the A's, not Canseco or McGwire.) But he doesn't 
belong in the Hall because of that. He belongs in the Hall because 
in the late 70s, he was the MAN.
